How to take care of your tattoo
Aftercare with second skin
• Keep your second skin on for 3 days
• Remove your second skin on the 3rd day, by pulling from one of the edges upwards. Doing it under the shower might help !
• Wash it with Ph neutral/fragrance free soap once a day for 2 weeks
• For 2 weeks, do not let your tattoo soak in water (showers are fine !), do not expose it to direct sunlight, and do not sauna. For larger projects, 3 weeks might be required for these instructions.
• working out is permitted after your tattoo has finished its peeling phase.
• You can moisturize your tattoo with a natural ointment, for example coconut oil (make sure the jar is new) We also sell different products at the studio for your needs.

If your second skin has peeled off before the recommended 3 days, don’t panic ! Just make sure your tattoo stays dry, and clean. Avoid tight clothes that will rub on the tattoo. You can wash it twice a day for the first 3 days and do not put any cream ! The cream has to be applied no earlier than 3 days after the tattoo was done.

if you are suspecting an allergic reaction caused by the second skin, remove it immediately and wash your tattoo with a mild soap. Follow the instructions listed on the « my second skin has peeled off » section above, but feel free to contact me for further questions.

I usually recommend to keep it on for 3 days, but this can vary depending on your piece. If something has to be done differently, I would of course let you know right after we are done after your tattoo when I explain the aftercare process.

Don’t worry, it’s normal ! Your skin will reject a little bit of ink and plasma, which causes that weird-looking liquid layer trapped underneath the second skin. You can leave it as it is, however if there is a lot of it to the point that it starts leaking out, you can remove the second skin earlier than planned and follow the instructions on the « my second skin has peeled » section above
Aftercare with tattoo pad
• Keep your pad for the following 3 hours after your session
• Remove the pad, wash your tattoo with a Ph neutral/fragrance free soap and dry it by pressing gently with kitchen paper. Do not use a towel to avoid spreading germs on your fresh tattoo.
• Once your tattoo is dry, apply a new pad over it.
• For the next 2 to 3 days, try to change your pad every 3 to 4 hours. Wash it twice a day during that phase and do not apply any cream/ointment. We want to keep it dry and clean !
• For 2 weeks, do not let your tattoo soak in water (showers are fine !), do not expose it to direct sunlight, and do not sauna. For larger projects, 3 weeks might be required for these instructions.

Aftercare with plastic wrap
• Keep the wrap on for 2 to 3 hours after your session.
• Remove the wrap and wash your tattoo with Ph neutral/fragrance free soap and dry it by pressing gently with kitchen paper. Do not use a towel to avoid spreading germs on your fresh tattoo. You can wash your tattoo twice a day for the following 2 days after your session.
• Re-apply a new wrap ONLY if you are going out and have to wear layers of clothes over it. We want to avoid clothes to rub directly onto the fresh tattoo. Otherwise, if you are at home in a clean environment, let your tattoo breathe with nothing on it. Follow this rule for the following 2 days after your appointment.

Other things you might need to know
Tattoos generally take about 2 to 3 weeks to heal. We all have different skin types, and different lifestyles, so it varies from a person to another.
After a few days, generally around the 4th day, your tattoo will start to peel on the surface. It might look scary but this is part of the healing process and is absolutely normal. This phase will last a few days, and some itchiness might also occur. You just have to make sure that you do not scratch or remove any scabs. Using some ointment might help with the itchiness.
NEVER over moisturize your tattoo ! If you wish to apply some ointment/cream on it, use as little as possible and spread it as much as you can. Remember to treat your tattoo as a wound that has to stay dry and clean !
